Grape Boycotts

1970

In 1968 I organized two of the Unions most effective grape boycotts. One in Toronto the 3rd biggest grape Market and one in Montreal the 5th largest grape market. Today we signed our first contract with a California grape grower. I organized the boycotts because of all of the harmful pesticides they are spraying over the fields. The pesticides are what killed a family's toddler son. My boycott set a template for boycotts around the country.

You have to draw a picture so people understand your story and your struggle, and you have to give them something they can do about your problem you are presenting... I learned that people will help if they are asked.
